Albert Garcia, Gary Thompson and Friends at Logos Books
Last night a gathering of friends and fans gathered at Logos Books to hear readings from the recent poetry collections of Sacramento’s Albert Garcia and San Juan Island’s Gary Thompson.
Albert read primarily from his new book “A Meal Like That”: poems ranging from the nostalgia of youth, to reflections on religious traditions and whimsical insights into love and life. Gary treated the crowd to a wide sampling of his works, many of which involved water and island themes (given his current home!)
The crowd was appreciative, and stayed on long after the readings to visit and speak with the poets, as well as purchase signed poetry collections to give as holiday gifts.
Here are some photos of that evening, which began with a reading of Quinton Duval’s poem “Otremarino” by his friend and colleague, Sarah Phelan.
Join us at the next reading in the Quinton Duval Poetry Series at Logos Books on Thursday, February 11 at 7:30 when former Davis Poet Laureate, Allegra Silberstein and Friend read at Logos Books.
