A lovely, warm February evening welcomed guests to our poetry evening last night. Sarah Phelan read “Beloved” from Quinton Duval’s poetry collection “Joe’s Rain”.
Allegra Silberstein, former poet laureate of Davis, read a variety of poems from her recently published book of poem “West of Angels”. She then read some of her new works, and ended with a Valentine poem to get us in the mood for February 14th.
Danyen Powell is a local poet who joined us for the first time yesterday evening. He read poems from a variety of collections, and even one that he had recently workshopped at the Sacramento Poetry Center’s Tuesday evening gathering that he facilitates. He also read from a collection of poems that he has had translated into Spanish: “Las Pallabras Mueren de Sed” or “Words Dying of Thirst”.
Afterwards, an opportunity to visit and enjoy light refreshments before leaving to continue the evening elsewhere.
Do join us at our next poetry evening on Thursday, April 14th at 7:30 pm when Susan Kelly DeWitt and Jeff Knorr will read at the last in our year’s Quinto Duval Poetry Series.
